  • Pie Filling Ingredients
  • 8 to 10 small red apples

Directions

  • Mix all the dry ingredients with a fork: flour, sugar (optional) and ground cinnamon (optional.
  • Cut butter into small pieces and add to the mixture slowly. Use your fingertips to incorporate the butter.
  • Add the egg yolk and mix thoroughly until you get a crumbs-like consistency.
  • Take the 2cl of warm water and add it to the dough very slowly. The result should not be hard or sticky. You do not have to use all the water.
  • Put the dough in a bowl and refrigerate it for at least an hour.
  • Pie Filling
  • Select 8 to 10 small red apples. Wash and dry them carefully.
  • Peel the apples and don't forget to remove the core.
  • Cut the apples into thin slices.
  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  • Remove dough from the fridge after an hour Roll it out and then transfer it carefully to the pie dish.
  • Add the thin slices of apples using a tablespoon.

Notes

  • Use refrigerated butter for better results. The dough should not be warm when you work with it.
  • You can also add a 1/4 teaspoon of salt to the recipe. I chose to use none because the apples I used are tangy enough. A pinch of salt would also do.
  • For this recipe, use a small to medium-sized pie dish.
  • You can also line the pie dough with apple compote before putting the thin slices of apples. This adds extra tanginess and juiciness.
