Medium-sized sweet potatoes
Vegetable oil (Rapeseed oil or Olive oil)
Salt
Pepper
Cinnamon (Optional)
- Utensils
Baking dish or tray
Pastry brush
Chopsticks
Directions
- Wash and dry the sweet potatoes.
- Cut the sweet potato into thin slices (see instructional video). Use chopsticks to keep the sweet potato steady and to prevent you from cutting all the way to the bottom of the sweet potato.
- Grease the sweet potatoes. Make sure that both sides are well-coated with the vegetable oil of your choice. In our case we used rapeseed oil.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Bake for approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. This depends on the size of your sweet potato and the slices you made. The sweet potato should be tender when you eat it. Don't hesitate to put it again in the oven if it is not cooked enough.
- You can slather the sweet potato with butter or sour cream if you want. Serve and enjoy!

Notes
- You can use wooden spoons instead of chopsticks. The chopsticks are advantageous because you are not worried of damaging them if you make cuts into them.
- Make sure that the inside of the sweet potato is well cooked.
- You can serve greens such as green beans along with the sweet potatoes.
- For this recipe, I only used one sweet potato. You can bake as many sweet potatoes as you want. Just make sure that they are medium-sized and uniform since you will be baking them.
