Ingredients for Dough
660g of all-purpose flour
1/2 a tablespoon of fine salt
6 tablespoons of vegetable oil (not olive oil)
Warm water
- Ingredients for the sauce
2 medium-sized pots of Greek yoghurt
3 tablespoons of olive oil
Oregano
Salt and pepper
Directions for the Dough
- Put the flour in a big bowl. Make a well in the middle and add the salt. Mix with a fork and then with your fingertips.
- Make another well and add the oil carefully. Mix again with your fingertips until there are no more lumps.
- Add the warm water gradually. The dough should not be sticky. Knead and add a little oil now and then to facilitate the kneading and to make the chapati soft.
- Stop kneading when the dough is elastic and smooth. Put in a bowl and cover with a tea towel. Let it rest for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Take out the dough and shape it into two stick-like figures. Cut into these shapes until you obtain small even rectangles. Afterwards, shape these rectangles into circles.
- Put a little oil (the size of a coin) on a mat and put one chapati ball on the mat. Flatten the chapati ball with a rolling pin then brush the flat chapati with some oil using a pastry brush. After this step, fold the chapati slowly and then make a snail-like shape.
- Repeat this step for all the remaining chapati balls.
- Flatten one chapati 'snail' and cook in a pan under low to medium heat. Make sure not to burn the chapati.
- Making the Sauce
- Put the Greek yoghurt in a small bowl.
- Add olive oil gradually and adjust according to your taste.
- Add oregano, salt and pepper.
- Mix well until all the ingredients are blended in!
- Serve the chapati with the yoghurt sauce, some cucumber salad and fresh olives! Bon appétit!

- The size of the chapati depends on your preference. You can make bigger chapati balls and hence, larger chapatis if you wish.
- Adjust the heat and make sure that you are not cooking the chapatis over high heat.
- Basil is a good alternative to oregano.
