Merry Christmas 2022 and wishing you a fantastic and prosperous new year!
Merry Christmas 2022: Reflecting on 2022
What a year 2022 has been! A lot of things happened in 2022 and, frankly speaking, most of them were unplanned. I guess I was more open to surprises this year and I am grateful for the good and challenging experiences that helped me to grow exponentially.
I am happy to wrap this year up and I am looking forward to next year.
What are your impressions about the year 2022? Did it go as planned? I hope that you managed to realise some of your dreams and hopefully you are going to accomplish even more in 2023!
For me, 2023 looks like the period when I will try to take this website to another level. If you have been following me for some time, you know that Learn English With Africa has gone through tremendous changes over the past two years.
I started creating learning and teaching materials in 2015 after quitting my comfortable teaching job. The little free website gradually grew into what it is today and I am glad that I took the decision to create this website for I impact a lot more people than I did when I was in the classroom.
However, it was not very easy for me to manage a subscription-based website and the break I took in 2022 helped me to see what mattered the most.
I saw different types of people and interacted with a clearly demanding audience that did not know my background. I started from scratch and I somehow threw myself to the wolves. However, it is during that uncertain time I learnt and grew in ways I had never imagined before. Thanks to those experiences, I became more resilient and determined to pursue my vision of learning and teaching languages.
Besides, I rediscovered my passion for learning languages and, really, to be truthful, my passion for learning in general. I love learning and I love transmitting knowledge to people.
Most importantly, I adore creating. I hope to communicate this love for life in 2023, especially during these uncertain times that we are all going through.
Now that my vision is clearer, I can work solely in the pursuit of my goal of helping students and teachers around the world learn and teach better. I want people to love learning and teaching languages! Learning languages brings me so much joy and I would so much like to share that with everyone!
I have a wealth of experience as an English teacher and a mother to two home-schooled children and I know that I can contribute something to the table.
Merry Christmas 2022: Wrapping Things Up
2022 was quite a restful, yet stressful and adventurous period for me. I dedicated most of my time to my personal YouTube channel where I learnt a great deal and had lots of fun.
This was a valuable period because it helped me to make peace with the fact that I might not be able to live in my home country again, Malawi.
I have lived for about 22 years in Europe, 10 in France and 12 in Poland. In the early days of this website, I struggled with these multiple identities.
Currently, I am happy for being able to live such a life. I can speak French and Polish fluently, thanks to my presence in the countries where these languages are spoken.
In short, 2022 was the year I grew the most as a creator and probably as a human being. I decided to go out of my comfort zone and I am happy I did because I am now more than ready to unleash my creativity in ways I never imagined before!
Join me as I explore this new side and I hope that I am able to inspire you in your creative journey as well!
Merry Christmas 2022 once again!
Enjoy yourself and spoil your loved ones!
Take care!
With much love,
Thandi
