Well, well, well. You must hear these questions A LOT at the moment. Understandably, for this year has been quite LONG and we all want a change of scenery. Hence, what do you say then when someone wants to know your summer whereabouts?
- I usually travel to Malawi in summer.
- Spain is my favourite destination for my summer holidays.
- Summer holidays are fun so I spend them with my family in the village!
- I like staying at home because I want to rest. Maybe this year I’ll change things a little bit.
- My parents often want us to go to the sea but I prefer going to the mountains.
As you can see, there are many ways to talk about your holiday plans.
Where Do You Usually Go In Summer: Abroad?
Many people like going to a different country when they are on holiday. What about you? Do you like going to a foreign country or do you prefer to stay in your own country? Why?
There are many reasons why some people like to take the big leap and go to a place that is completely unknown to them. They could do this to:
- learn more about other cultures.
- feel more adventurous.
- be challenged.

This summer, I’d like to go to Sweden for its stunning natural beauty. I like the beautiful lakes and uncrowded beaches. The campsites are very clean and the service is top-notch. Swedish food is delicious as well and I’ll never forget the crispy waffles I once ate in a village restaurant. It was an out-of-this-world experience!
Where Do You Usually Go In Summer: To the Sea?
Some people prefer going to the sea because they can swim and do many water sports. The atmosphere along the sea coast is also awesome for people who like to party. The weather is also very good in summer and locals are often friendly and welcoming.

- This summer, I’m going to the Mediterranean Sea because the water is warm.
- I’d like to visit the Red Sea to understand why it’s called the Red Sea. Is it really red?

- I like places that are not touristy and crowded so I’d like to go to the Yellow Sea.
- My family and I usually go to the White Sea to admire the view. We’ll do the same this summer.

- Well, I don’t really know yet. I’d to go to the sea because I love swimming and sunbathing and sea beaches are often big. I don’t mind the crowds, by the way.
Where Do You Usually Go In Summer: To the Mountains?
While some people like flat areas, some people love heights and challenges, so they opt for the mountain. Oftentimes, the air is fresh and the views are stunning when you reach the top. Hiking can be challenging but it doesn’t deter mountain lovers from doing what they love.

- I really want to go to see Mulanje Mountain in Malawi. Its highest peak is the dreaded and yet reverred Sapitwa, meaning ‘the place that is not gone to.’ There are many local stories surrounding this place. I’ve heard from friends and family members that this place is so beautiful and awe-inspiring.
- The Alps have always fascinated me. I’d love to the visit the french side of the Mont Blanc, meaning ‘white mountain’ because of the glaciers that cover it.
- Another mountain that I would like to visit is Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. It’s actually a dormant volcano and the highest mountain in Africa. You can even find some snow on some of its peaks! Fascinating, isn’t it?
Where Do You Usually Go In Summer: To the City?
We’ve talked about holidays that take place in natural environments. What about going to urban areas? Some people like the hustle and bustle of city life and they will not trade city holidays for anything else.

I would like to visit Paris this summer. The city is lovely and its famous landmark, the Eiffel Tower is a must-see. The food is to die for and cafés are just so welcoming, you can spend the whole afternoon on a terrace, enjoying the street view. I also get very inspired when I visit Paris because of the women’s incredible fashion sense. It’s crazy but I just can’t have enough of it! I adore visiting museums as well and it’s never a waste of time.

- I would like to visit a small village called Rynia. It lies about 30 km away from Warsaw, the capital city of Poland. This beautiful place is very welcoming and quiet. It actually lies along the Zegrze Reservoir or Lake and you can swim there. Many people, locals or visitors, also do water sports and take strolls while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
- It would be such a pleasure to visit my home village: Mzokoto. It is found in the north of Malawi. People in this area speak a bantu language called Chitumbuka. My favourite season to visit this place is during the rainy season when they are plenty of plump and ripe mangoes on the trees. However, summer is fun as well and I love seeing my family.
